Card Game: Scat
Players: 3 - (as many that will put up with you!!)
Goal: Last one to have a (some is even better) dollars and you get the pot
Equipment: Normal Deck
$3 Buckaroos
General: You want to be the person closest to 31 in the same suit. If you have 31 at any point in the game - before the knock, then you automatically flip your cards.  You knock when you think you are not the lowest person anymore. The lowest person puts a buck into the pot. If you knocked you put in $2. You play 4 times losing - once for each dollar and then once on your honor. Winner gets the cash. 
Rules: Initial
  • 3 Cards are dealt facedown to each person.  A draw/discard pile is formed.
  • Person to the left of the dealer starts. They can either :
    • Flip right away without looking at any of the cards and before the inital draw pile is shown - follow normal knocking rules. 
    • Look and then knock (thinking they do not have the lowest hand in the SAME suit) You can not knock once you have picked up and discarded
    • Pickup discard and let the next person go. 
  • If a person gets 31 and there hasn't been a knock, they immediately flip their cards, everyone else has to pay a buck. 
  • The knocker can not pickup/discard on the turn they want to knock. The knock is their turn. 


    • Once there has been a knock 

  • If you get 31 - tough tootsie rolls. 
  • Everyone gets 1 more turn around the circle - there can be no more knocks  (why would you want to)
  • The knocker (when the turn gets back to them) then flips their cards to reveal their (hopefully) high hand.  The person with the lowest hand, puts a buck into the pot. If the knocker has the lowest - they put in $2


    • Ending 

  • When a person looses all of their dollars, they can play one more time 'on their honor'. If they are not a trustworthy person, do not tell them this rule
  • The person left standing, wins the pot. 
  • Anything else - house rules.
